First day

First day

Ahh yes, I remember my first day like it was yesterday, the noobiness, the complete and utter noobiness. Having read the manual several times beforehand (while waiting the 4 or more hours for it to install) I still had no idea about how to do anything in the game, I didn't even know you had to PAY for the game.

Anyway, I select a character, and choose a name. Then I spend 5 mins deciding where I would like to start.

Sand'Oria looked like a medieval castle type thing, very snazzy.
Bastok had dull colours, but had a nice fountain.
Windurst was green and lush like a jungle, very relaxing. It also had a big tree somewhere.

A hard decision, but I chose Sandy because that's where elvaans came from (or so my mother always told me).

So I log in, and I get to a cutscene right away. After discovering that Enter progresses text, I then saw some interesting Royal people, the rest I have forgotten. (I only remember the royal people as I created my mule there).

After this and that, I wind up in Port Sandy. The occasional airship here, the little NPC children running around there, I was amazed by it all, mainly by the sheer size of it all. I even discovered that you could manually move that camera in this game.

This was all I could do for about 10 mins, as I thought up moved you up. Turns out it didn't, and never would.

I start moving, and head to the local docks (hadn't discovered left and right yet), where I proceed to get my first ever quest, to catch Moat Carp. I get some help from a nearby adventurer (read: noob target) and find out about the Auction House. They even bought me 2 carps for my quest (I didn't mention the quest at the time, otherwise they might have told me about my mistake sooner). Turns out you need 10,000 Moat Carp, so only 9,998 to go:/ To this day I have only handed in 28.

I think I'll leave it at there for today, I got disconnected by Norton Internet Security saying that it had updated itself, and I couldn't be bothered to go online for the rest of the day.

Hey there, after reading [GM]Daves blog I decided it was time to do my own. However, at these times of such good ideas, I have such bad luck, this time it's being on holiday to Dubai for a month, so no FFXI. This is accompanied with my leaving date being the same time chocobo raising was released :/ Anyway, until I get back i'll just post anything of relevance I did before I left.

P.S Blogger.com suddenly decided to "not work" so I got a bunch of 'Page could not be displayed stuff', explaining the possible double post.
